Elizabeth Monroe Taylor

March 17, 1917 - October 15, 2005

Elizabeth Monroe Taylor, was born March 22, 1917 to the late James S. and Lillian Monroe in Washington, DC. Quietly, on Thursday, October 6, 2005, while a patient at Heartland Health Care Center in Adelphi, Maryland, journeyed home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.


She was educated in the District of Columbia Public Schools and gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was baptized by her uncle, the late Reverend John F. Monroe, at Simpson-Hamline United Methodist Church, and was a member of the National Soloist Council under the leadership of the late Willie Mae Ford-Smith. In May 1944, she joined Mount Joy Baptist Church and remained a faithful member for sixty-one years. She was a member of the Gospel Chorus, Missionaries, Pastors Aide Club, Nurses Unit, the Senior Choir and the Fellowship Club. On Mother’s Day 2005, she was recognized as one of the Church Mothers for her faithful and dedicated service.
